About Rabbi Jeremy Markiz

I’m a rabbi, consultant, and educator passionate about making Jewish life more accessible, meaningful, and honest. I help Jewish organizations communicate clearly on the internet with stories, strategy, and systems.

My work lives at the intersection of Torah, digital strategy, and organizational growth. I help people and institutions find clarity in who they are and how they serve.

Over the past decade, I’ve worked across the Jewish landscape as a synagogue rabbi, nonprofit strategist, educator, and digital communicator. Each role has deepened my understanding of how Jewish life works and how it might grow.

Over time, I’ve chosen to do my work both inside and alongside traditional institutions. Much of my work is rooted in the careful encounter: listening for what matters, clarifying what’s essential, and moving forward with integrity. I’m especially drawn to the space between Tradition and innovation, holding both truths at once and helping people and communities find clarity within that tension.

A Foot in Two Worlds: Consulting and Torah

I split my time between two overlapping worlds.

Strategic Consulting

Through my consulting work, I partner with Jewish organizations to sharpen their voice, align their messaging, and communicate with authenticity and integrity.

This is clarity work: thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in a real understanding of Jewish life. I help organizations reflect, organize, and express who they truly are, both online and in person.

Torah and Jewish Learning

At heart, I’m a student of Torah.

I write With Torah and Love, a long-running newsletter that helps people engage deeply in Jewish text while inspiring them to be their best selves.

I’ve taught classes on many subjects, Talmud, holidays, Psalms, Elul, and spiritual practice, often finding creative ways to bring Torah into digital spaces. I try to approach Torah as a relational practice: dynamic, personal, and always evolving in conversation with real people and real questions.

I also co-founded Exploring Judaism, a digital publication dedicated to expanding access to meaningful Jewish wisdom. Since launching, we’ve published over 1,000 pieces of Torah from hundreds of contributors across the Jewish world, including explainers, reflections, halakhic guides, and more.

I continue to serve as Managing Editor, working to shape content that meets people where they are while honoring the depth and complexity of Tradition.

How I Work

Across everything I do, consulting, teaching, writing, building, I bring a combination of structure and soul. I care about clarity and coherence. I ask hard questions gently. I value process, integrity, and language that actually says something true. I’m committed to helping others do meaningful work with greater confidence, alignment, and heart.

Right Now

These days, I’m focused on helping Jewish organizations grow with greater clarity and integrity. I’m also building a body of Torah that supports people in their lives. I live in the Washington, DC area with my family, where I drink almost enough coffee, read books about spaceships, and stay curious on purpose.
